What does a website cost in 2026?
Short answer: anything from a few hundred kroner to over a hundred thousand. The price depends on who makes the site, how much is custom-made and what it costs to run afterwards. Here are typical prices in Norway, in Norwegian kroner (NOK), with sources — and what you get with sidy.
| Who makes the site | Up front | Per year afterwards | Roughly over three years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agency | 30,000–100,000 NOK (simple template sites from about 15,000 NOK) | 3,000–12,000 NOK | 39,000–136,000 NOK |
| Freelancer | 5,000–25,000 NOK | 1,000–3,000 NOK | 8,000–34,000 NOK |
| WordPress on your own | The software is free | 3,000–15,000 NOK, plus your own time | 9,000–45,000 NOK |
| Website builder with a subscription (Wix, Squarespace etc.) | 0 NOK | 1,500–5,000 NOK | 4,500–15,000 NOK |
| sidy | 349 NOK, once | 0 NOK for the site | 349 NOK |
The prices are indicative ranges from Norwegian price guides (see sources at the bottom), not quotes. Agencies often quote prices without VAT; with sidy, VAT is included in the 349 NOK for buyers in Norway. “Over three years” is the up-front cost plus three years of running costs. A domain is often extra: a .no domain typically costs 100–300 NOK a year. sidy includes a free address (yourname.sidy.no).
What affects the price?
- How much is built from scratch. A site on a ready-made template costs a fraction of a custom design.
- Number of pages and features. An online shop, booking, logins and integrations push the price up. An online shop from an agency typically costs 40,000–150,000 NOK.
- Text and photos. If someone writes the copy and takes the photos for you, expect another 10,000–50,000 NOK.
- Running costs and changes. Hosting, updates and security cost money every year, and later changes are often billed by the hour — typically 800–1,500 NOK an hour at an agency.
- Domain and email. A .no domain typically costs 100–300 NOK a year. Email on your own domain is usually a separate service with its own price.

- One to three pages, a contact form and a gallery
- Ready-written copy in six languages and three professional photos per category — you can change everything before you pay
- A free address at yourname.sidy.no, or your own domain
- HTTPS, built for mobile, no cookie banner
- Free submission to Google and Bing if you want
What you do not get: an online shop and calendar booking are not available yet, and after publishing we change the site for you when you email us. If you need a custom design, many pages or an online shop, an agency or a freelancer is the right choice.

Frequently asked questions
What does a website for a small business cost?
At an agency in Norway, typically 15,000–100,000 NOK up front and a few thousand kroner a year to run. With a website builder you pay 1,500–5,000 NOK a year for as long as you keep the site. With sidy it costs 349 NOK once.
What does it cost to run a website?
From a few hundred kroner to more than 10,000 NOK a year, depending on hosting, updates, security and whether someone makes changes for you. With sidy, running the site is included in the one-off price.
What does a domain cost?
A .no domain typically costs 100–300 NOK a year, depending on the reseller. With sidy you see the price for your exact name — first year and renewal — before you pay.
Is VAT included in the sidy price?
Yes. If you buy from Norway, 25% Norwegian VAT is included in the 349 NOK. If you live outside Norway, no Norwegian VAT is charged and you pay the same. The amount shown in the checkout is the full amount.
Are there hidden costs?
No. 349 NOK is paid once, with no subscription and no lock-in. A new domain and email invitations (49 NOK) are optional extras, and the price is shown in the checkout before you pay.
Why is sidy so much cheaper than an agency?
Because no one builds the site by hand. The copy and photos for each trade are made in advance, and the site is put together and published automatically. You pay for the result, not for the hours.
